Shakespeare Nationals Junior Dragster winner Peter Walters
has announced a new sponsor partnership between J & W
Racing and Gold RV.
The new sponsorship helped with a new 3.25" Craws Rhino engine
which J & W Racing received on the Friday morning before
the event and with which Peter won the race on its first
outing.
"We weren't expecting to do anything spectacular at the weekend,
we just wanted to test the engine", says Peter. "On our first
run on Saturday we ran 8.28/79.79, and our five runs that
day were within 0.06 of each other. We were over the moon
with the consistency of the engine.
"On Sunday we had to race Gold RV Racing team-mate
Dan Giles. We dialled 8.23 and ran 8.27/80.07, our first
80 mph pass, to take the win. We kept the 8.23 dial-in to
race Ross Norris and ran 8.232, then we had a bye, and then
eliminated top qualifier Becky Evans in the semis. In the
final against Charlotte Watts, we dialled in 8.24 and ran
8.301 and Charlotte broke out.
"I can't believe we won our firts event with our new motor.
I would like to say a big Thank You to our new sponsors J & W
Racing and Gold RV, to Fred Craw of Craws Racing Engines,
and to Daniel Giles for the help on Sunday. We would also
like to congratulate Derek Flynn on his 6.702 and that nasty
199.77 - hope the see the two hundred at the Main Event -
and all of the Junior Dragster racers. What a great event!"
Stephen
Wexler kindly sent us this great group shot of last weekend's
Junior Dragster field. "If anyone
wants copies then I have other group shots as well as individual
pictures" says
