11.05.07 - Flynn shows promise
After a rather disappointing
début in Top Methanol Dragster at Easter, Derek Flynn
of Eurodragster.com News sponsor Gold
RV says that it was great to make some excellent progress
at Shakespeare County Raceway, where he got his TMD licence
at the weekend.
"Thanks to the efforts of my team we knocked off nearly a
second from our previous times with our new car and we were
pleased to get licenced", says Derek. "I would like to take
this opportunity to thank everyone at Shakespeare County Raceway
for helping us to make it happen, from the back room staff
to everyone of the track crew who made sure we had the best
possible opportunity to put in some good passes. We took it
easy to start with and slowly increased the shift RPM and
fuel settings and I am sure if it were not for a slight smattering
of rain before our last pass on Sunday we would have achieved
our first 200 mph pass at SCR Alas it was not meant to be
as I had to lift as I was rather sideways by the eighth, but
the data to that point was most promising, especially as Tog
reckoned we were rather sideways from the launch.
"Thanks again to Jerry, Richard, Bruno and all the SCR crew.
We had a great weekend. Unfortunately due to a small split
in the sidewall of one of our front tyres and a small problem
with the rings on #2 cylinder we had already decided to pack
up on the Sunday night, before the rain really spoiled things,
but up 'til then I thought it was a great meeting and we
are really looking forward to achieving that 200+ mph in the Gold
RV lane some time soon."
