17.04.07 - Blues for Gold RV

Derek Flynn of Eurodragster.com News sponsor Gold RV had a Top Methanol Dragster début to forget with his new car save the knowledge that the Gold RV Racing team can turn the new car round as quickly as Derek's previous dragster.

"The carnage included blower problems, broken reverser, burnt out torque converter, Bruno pump failure, number eight cylinder did not want to play all weekend, various Lenco problems which meant that we had no third gear and slipped gears for all but the last run when yours truly missed the shift button, d'oh!", says Derek.

"I would like to thank my crew who put in a huge effort to get us to the track and who just did not give up all weekend once we were there, working to the wee small hours changing the torque converter, along with various gear box bits which were kindly provided to us by Dave Wilson. Our new crew members John and Sarah Foster and Andy May proved to be invaluable and slotted right in, and I am sure this all bodes well for the future!

"Thanks also to everyone at Andy Robinson Race Cars for all the help and assistance in upgrading our chassis ensuring it sailed through scrutineering, and thanks to Darren Prentice for giving us the maximum track time possible and thanks also to Ian Marshall for the push back when we had no reverser, just to try and get us qualified. I am just a bit embarrasses that we did not do better.

"It was a shame we did not make the qualifying as I was really looking forward to racing Fast Freddy and watching him perform those calmed down burn outs - yeah right Freddy - in the lane next to me. PS Get well Sharkman, I really missed you at the track I had no marker for my burnouts!"
