31.05.07 - Flynn's last
blast
UK Top Methanol racer Derek Flynn of Eurodragster.com News
sponsor Gold RV says
that next month's SPRC Summer nationals will probably mark
his last outing in Super Pro ET. Derek's new engine will render
the Gold RV Racing dragster illegal for the class.
"I feel a twinge of sadness that this may have to be our
last outing in Super Pro, unless there are rule changes in
the future", says Derek. "As we reported earlier in the year,
we really enjoy competing in Super Pro ET, a great class full
of great people, and we had intended on competing in the class
at a few events each year. However, we have now purchased
a Hemi and a screw blower which will rule us out of Super
Pro, but which should definitely help us in our quest to go
quicker and ultimately that five second run that we are now
aiming for. I wanted to try to see out the year with the Chevy
but now that we have a Brad in the workshop my crew just can't
wait to put it in the car and it will probably be in there
for the European Finals.
"Even though things have not quite gone to plan so far this
year, I am quite happy with the steady progress we have made
in the ten or so runs we have had in the new car, and would
like to thank all my crew for the effort they have been putting
in. We feel that the weather robbed us of the chance to get
back in to the sixes at the FIA Main Event. We would like
to thank Joe Pando from MSD for his help and assistance, it
is really great that a US supplier of such standing is helping
us racers over this side of the Pond, long may it continue.
"We really hope that our last outing in Super Pro ET will
be a good one and that we can lay down some good numbers again
before leaving the class, and as we have always been Chevy
men we will be a little sad to say good bye to the Bow Tie
too. We know we can still get a lot more out of what we have
and we just hope we get a chance to prove it. The Rodeck aluminium
engine with Bow Tie heads will be available after this meeting
having been freshened for the start of the season with new
rods, pins, bearings, a couple of new pistons, new push rods,
springs etc. If you are interested then please get in touch
with me at derek@goldrv.co.uk."
